Migrating all your software applications to a new operating system is always a pain in the *ss, especially when you’re talking about software that isn’t exactly mainstream. P2P (peer to peer) filesharing software such as Ares, Limewire, Bearshare and others are a good example. They are kind of skirting the edge of legality, so are not supported by huge companies with big pockets that lawyers can go after.
As a result of operating in the legal gray zone by smaller companies, they often don’t have huge customer support staff and it can be difficult to get help with any snags trying to get it working. So it is a huge relief to many fans of the popular Ares filesharing software to learn that moving to windows 7 doesn’t mean you need a new version – Aresvista works just fine.
To be sure, there is a version called Areswindows7, but it is really just an older version of Ares that has a new skin that uses the background colors and logos of windows7. But it doesn’t have any new features, and in fact is missing some of the improvements Aresvista has, such as advanced node generation that ensures you won’t be left waiting for hours to make that initial connection to the network as so many users of the old Ares Galaxy are forced to do.
